What is Text Matching?

Text Matching is a type of content analysis that allows an organization to add a list of text strings (i.e. Serial Number, Model Number, Part Number, ID, MAC address, etc) to search a particular photo list item for when that photo is taken by an end user. It can be helpful for things like verifying whether a particular item is up for recall. If the text found in the photo matches a string that has been selected, the photo list item will show a Pass on the Vision Dashboard Inspection Details page. If it does not match, it will display a warning on the Vision Dashboard Inspection Details page.

Configuring Text Matching

Please note: Text Matching must first be enabled by your Customer Success Manager on the backend, so please reach out to them first to request this, before continuing with the following information.

Once Text Matching has been enabled by your Customer Success Manager, there are several steps to set it up for your company.

  1. Entering the strings

    1. Log into the Vision Dashboard at vision.truepic.com
    2. Click the Settings (gear) icon in the lower left of the screen, and look for the Lists heading. Under this, Text Matching should be available to click.
    3. Click the Create Text Matching Set button on the top right of the screen.
    4. The Text Matching screen will appear. Create a Name for the Text Matching Set, select the Type of strings you will be entering, and then click +Add under strings to get a window to paste your strings into on the page. There is a limit of 100 strings in each Text Matching set.
    5. Click Save Changes.
  2. Applying text matching to a photo item in a list

    1. Now that you have a text matching set configured, we need to apply it to a photo item on a list. The following steps assume you are creating a new list to add it to; if you are applying it to an existing one, skip to step 3 on this list step.
    2. Go to Settings (gear icon), click Lists and create a new List by clicking Create List in the top right. Name it something memorable and relevant, so you can find it again later.
    3. Text Matching Sets can be applied to Photo list items only. Create a new Photo list item, and click the settings icon to the right of the question.
    4. Select Add Content Analysis, then Text Matching, and Add Text Matching Sets
    5. Up to 5 Text Matching Sets can be applied to one photo list item. If you have configured multiple sets looking for different strings to analyze (i.e. Serial Number, Model Number, Part Number, ID, etc) in the same photo, you can add up to 5 text matching sets to the photo list item to check for when the user takes that specific photo.
    6. Click Done when you have added the text matching sets you want to apply to the photo list item, then click Save. Under that item, you should see the text matching sets that are applied.
    7. When finished setting up the list, click Save Changes at the bottom left of the list.
  3. Configuring an alert

    1. Alerts can be set up to automatically set the number of warnings that are allowable, before the inspection is marked needing further review. All tests are performed, no matter what is selected; alerts just set a threshold for whether an inspection may need manual review by a organization.
    2. Go to Settings (gear icon), find the Configure Inspections heading, and click on Alerts.
    3. Configure the Alert as you want it set up, making sure to select the Content Analysis: Text Matching test, along with any others you want to use for the threshold.
    4. Click Save Changes.

  1. Assigning the list and alert to an inspection type

    1. Assigning to a new Inspection Type

      1. Go to Settings (gear icon), find the Manage Inspections heading, and click Inspection Types.
      2. Click Create Type at the top right.
      3. Set up the new Inspection Type; for help, this process is outlined here. Ensure you assign the list and alerts you created in the previous steps to the Inspection Type.
      4. Click Save Changes.
    2. Assigning to an existing Inspection Type

      1. Go to Settings (gear icon), find the Manage Inspections heading, and click Inspection Types.
      2. Find the Inspection Type you want to have the list and/or alert applied to
      3. Alter the Inspection Type to use the new list and/or alert; for help, this process is outlined here. Ensure you assign the list and alerts you created in the previous steps to the Inspection Type.
      4. Click Save Changes.

Example of Text Matching in an Inspection

Below you will find an example of text matching in an inspection. The "Picture of serial number and model of laptop" list item contains a photo, where text matching has found a serial number matching one of the strings entered by the organization.
