Offline Capture allows users to take pictures, videos, and answer questions offline. It allows users to not experience any interruptions while performing an inspection. They can confidently go into remote locations, travel underground, or perform inspections in dense urban areas and no longer get blocked from using the camera.
Please note: Users still need internet access to receive an inspection request.
They also still need internet to download the app.
Most importantly, users need to open up the app for at least 2 seconds with internet access. Afterwards, they can close or even quit the app, and when they are ready to perform an inspection, they will no longer need any internet access. Once they return to a location with cell or wifi signal, their items will upload, and they will be able to submit their inspection.
How is this different from my other inspections?
By clicking into the picture, you will see “Captured Offline” in the Server Time. Pictures taken offline are not meant to raise attention and will not have a server time listed for when that photo was captured as depicted below:
Metadata & Sensor Information. Pictures and videos captured will show Captured Offline.
Results Analysis. Images captured offline do not have server time comparison.
Are there any restrictions on Offline Capture?
Yes; Offline Capture is not always compatible with inspections employing geofencing. If the device is offline but still has a GPS signal, captures are possible as long as the user is within the geofencing area.
If the user does not have a GPS signal, the camera will be blocked. This is because, if both offline and without a GPS signal, the camera is blocked due to not having a GPS signal.
